God’s promise

March 11, 2011

This past week has been wet in Nashville. We had a lot of rain in a short period of time.

Earlier this week I was driving home from work after a downpour when I saw one of the prettiest rainbows that I have seen in some time.

I could not help but think of God’s promise to mankind as described in Genesis 9: 13-16. That promise is a reminder that God is in control, no matter what. We needed that reminder on Friday, March 11.

As most people know by now, an earthquake registering 8.9 shook Japan. The result was a tsunami which has already impacted or could impact other nations. There is no way of knowing how many people have already lost their lives in this natural disaster and how many could die in the days ahead. Early reports indicate hundreds have been killed but those totals are preliminary and most certainly will rise into the thousands.

I encourage people to pray for those impacted by this deadly disaster and for those who will be providing relief help. We don’t know why this happened, but we can rest assured in God’s promise that He is still in control. His promise is what keeps us going when it appears the world appears to be falling apart around us.

Don’t stop praying!
