Much sooner than later

It was only a matter of time. And it came much sooner than later.

When the United States Supreme Court ruled in June that same-sex marriage is protected under the Constitution and is legal in all 50 states, concerns were expressed that religious liberty would come under attack.

Questions arose as to whether ministers could speak freely against homosexuality and call it what it is — sin.

At least in Kentucky the answer is no. Fox News reported Aug. 11 that volunteer chaplains had to sign a document promising not to tell inmates that homosexuality is “sinful.”

When Chaplain David Wells said he could not sign such a document, the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice revoked his credentials.

Wells, who spent 13 years ministering to troubled juveniles, had to give up a labor of love.

If anyone is really surprised this has happened, then your head has been in the sand.

And, if you think this won’t happen again and again you are sadly mistaken. And, it will eventually find its way to Tennessee — probably much sooner than later.

Two freedoms that Americans hold dear — speech and religion — are under attack.

We have to be diligent and pray more fervently than ever. And we all need to be able to answer this question: Will we stand boldly for Christ?

That question will eventually come — much sooner than later.

Sooner is already here. So, the sooner we preach the truths of God’s word the sooner the world will know where we stand. Good word, Lonnie.

A good word Lonnie, but a regretful subject! Thank you for keeping us informed about our culture! We must “press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!”

And so the great sifting of the church is underway.. let those who truly believe stand for Jesus as those who don’t fall through the sifter and disappear as chaff in the wind..

The church that preaches the true word of God will be under attack sooner than most people think Christians Pray God will chose our next leaders

More than ever, we must press on and show the love of God to a world that desperately needs a real relationship with our loving Savior. We must never waiver from the truth that God teaches us in His word. God will see us through, but we need to be diligent in the work that He has placed before us. May God continue to bless you in the work you do with the Baptist and Reflector.

I preach that not receiving Christ is a sin. Are they going to stop us from saying that? What’s next… we won’t be allowed to preach that only born again Christians inherit the Kingdom of God?
Also, has anyone approached a Muslim cleric with the same demands? I rather doubt it!

Gosh! There are so many passages from the New Testament flooding my heart right now. First, Luke 17:28-30. Then back to Luke 17:1-4. Then Matthew 9:10-13 comes to mind. But after all efforts of getting out of the Holy Spirit’s way to let Him do His work thru us have failed, it seems, then Matthew 10:14-42 fits the bill.

Ironically this decision by KY has nothing to do with the Supreme Court ruling. The ruling only prohibits states from refusing a license for same sex marriage and was based upon the 14th amendment The KY rule violates the first amendment, freedom to practice religion. We should not stand by and allow this unconstitutional action.
